The Work
I’m a communications strategist, filmmaker, and doctoral researcher with 15 years working at the intersection of media, policy, and technology. I’ve built global campaigns, shaped state policy, and sat with communities whose stories deserved a better instrument than a press release. Currently Publications Manager at the Washington State Department of Commerce, Creative Director for the Haring Center’s IPTN initiative at UW, and a doctoral student in Information Science — studying how making is itself a form of knowing.
My career runs from international campaigns for Siemens and a Cannes Silver Dolphin, to leading Washington State’s AI guidance for K–12 schools, to my current work as Publications Manager in the Washington State Department of Commerce Director’s Office — sitting at the intersection of policy and communication for executive and legislative audiences. As Creative Director for the Haring Center at UW, I lead integrated communications strategy for the Inclusionary Practices Technical Assistance Network, connecting inclusive education research to schools, districts, and disability communities statewide.
I think like an information architect — designing how ideas move from first question to final distribution. I work with communities, not for them, using film as a research instrument and co-creation as a methodology. My doctoral research at UW’s iSchool centers on production-as-literacy: the idea that making is itself a form of knowing.
Video & Film Production Services
Microdocumentary, narrative video, and community-based storytelling for organizations working at the intersection of policy, education, and social change. I employ co-creation principles throughout — working with community to produce authentic stories that belong to the people living them, not just about them.
Communications Strategy
Integrated communications consulting across multi-modal deliverables — written, visual, video, and web. From legislative reports and executive briefings to public-facing campaigns, I help organizations design how ideas move from first question to final distribution.
Research
Qualitative research grounded in video-as-inquiry, digital ethnography, and participatory action research. I bring both practitioner and academic lenses to research design, community engagement, and knowledge translation.
